Victoria Erupts! History of Volcanoes in Victoria - cancelled due to low booking numbers

Event cancelled!

** EVENT CANCELLED** Volcanic activity in South-eastern Australia, and in particular central through western Victoria, has a long and varied history. In this talk James will surmise the science of volcanic eruptions, using examples from North America, Japan, Italy and Iceland, and will discuss the possibility of future eruptions in our own backyard. He will discuss hazards of volcanic eruptions and why ~107,000 flights were cancelled in Europe as a result of the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption in southern Iceland. James will also fact check the often-repeated claim that volcanic eruptions are the cause of current climate change
